Shamrock Rovers – March 2015 Update
Author: bigk | Filed under: Football Manager, Shamrock RoversHello FMCrowd!
We had just 4 games in March, all in the League. We again showed why we are the dominant side in Ireland as we won all 4.
We managed to keep 3 clean sheets from 4 and picked up maximum points.
vs ST.PAT’S ATHLETIC
We picked up a 3-0 win in the season opener in this derby game. We even went down to 10-men in the 76th minute but St.Pat’s couldn’t capitalise. In the 10th minute, Ao Jie tucks in a penalty for his 1st competitive goal for the club in his 1st game. We picked up our 2nd goal just before HT as Marc Albrighton volleyed in from Onuh’s cross. Albrighton managed to grab a second goal in this game, as he tapped in from his 1st saved effort in the 73rd minute. Then we went down to 10-men as Onuh was sent off for persistent fouling.
vs DUNDALK
Another 0-3 win for Shamrock as I tested 3 youth players from my academy. Robbie Brennan came on in the 65th minute, (striker), and didn’t really impact the match. Jason Keily was started at LB and played well. Sam Beckett is 16 and came on as a sub in midfield and set up a goal. All are youth internationals for ROI U21′s and Keily is N-Ireland U21 international. In the 5th minute, Serge Nyuiadzi tapped in from long range to open the scoring. In the 15th minute, Muniesa headed in Horne’s corner. Then, Beckett’s cross fell to Horne who smashed in from the 2nd time of asking in the 80th minute.
vs WATERFORD
This was a game for Ireland International Shane Duffy. In the 20th minute, Duffy heads in from Simon Ryan’s corner. It remained 1-0 for some time however we did double the lead eventually. Duffy headed in Horne’s corner in the 85th minute for his 2nd of the game.
vs LONGFORD
We were quite poor in this game against Longford. We went behind in the 44th minute from a silly goal to concede. It was sloppy and poor defending. This goal just before the break meant that morale would be low. We couldn’t grab the equaliser until the 72nd minute as Duffy heads in Sletvold’s free kick. We looked more confident after this goal and we grabbed the winner very late on. 2nd minute of injury time and Elford-Alliyu smashes in Fernando’s overhead through ball into the roof of the net. A great time to make it 1-2.
Here is the IPD table for March 2015:
So we are top of the table, as expected, however Sligo Rovers are also doing fantastically this season so far. The also won all their games and are on level points with us. However our GD is marginally better.
Here are April’s fixtures:
We are forced to play a massive 7 games in April, 4 of which on TV. We will see how resilient Sligo Rovers are as we face them on the 4th.

Great start and good to see some young players getting a chance.

Yeah, I feel they are good enough for the league and most of my starting squad, if not all, are far too good. It seems only fair they get a chance.
